3-28-10 The U14 Bavarians played The Blitz 96' Navy from Oklahoma in the championship match of the Emerald Cup. The game was a typical final with both teams playing solid defense with only a few scoring chances throughout the game. At the end of regulation the score was 0-0. The final would be decided on penaly kicks. Unfortunately the Bavarians ended up losing 2-3 in a shootout.
All in all it was a great weekend for the Bavarians giving up only one goal in four full games, that goal was scored on a free-kick. The facility in Overland Park Kansas City was absolutely phenomenal. Ten turf fields , all lighted and heated made the playing conditions great.
3-28-10 The U14 Blue Bavarians played their final bracket game vs FC Porto from Kansas City knowing a draw would be good enough to make it to the final. However, the Bavarians didnt play for the tie and came out quick, scoring two goals in the first 15 minutes. Jack Menard scored the first after pressuring a defender to make a back pass error to the keeper in the 5th minute. Menard doubled the lead after Jackson Weiss played a good through pass to beat the offsides trap, sending Menard in one on one in the 15th minute. Josh Short completed the scoring as Danny Jarosz played him in beating the offside trap again, final score 3-1.
The Bavarians will play Blitz United 96 Navy at 2:30pm in the championship game.
3-27-10 The U14 Blue Bavarians played Kansas City Premier in their second game of the tournament (and day) and pulled off a tough 1-0 victory. The goal was scored in the 30th minute by Josh Short off of a long diagonal pass from Quinn English. The Bavarians play FC Porto in their final bracket game tomorrow morning at 7am, the winner advances to the final, FC Porto has two wins as well.
3-27-10 The U14 Blue Bavarians kicked off the Emerald Cup versus another MRL team the Minnesota Thunder White (a team they tied last year 1-1) under less than perfect weather conditions,(pea sized hail and wind). However,the weather didnt stop the Bavarians from coming out determined to get a result. The Bavarians tooka 5 goal lead into the half highlighted by a free-kick by Jack Menard from 25 yards out that was World Class in the upper 90. The second half saw more goals for the Bavarians as the final score was 9-0.
